How to use an example

An example is a starting structure, not a finished resume. These four steps turn one into something that is genuinely yours.

  1. Step 1

    Pick the closest match

Choose the role and experience level nearest to the job you want. The structure carries over even if your title is different.

  2. Step 2

    Open an editable copy

“Use this example” copies it into your account, where every section can be edited with a live PDF preview.

  3. Step 3

    Replace every detail

The people, employers and numbers are invented. Swap in your own facts, and keep only results you can explain in an interview.

  4. Step 4

    Check and tailor

Review the built-in resume checks, then use AI suggestions to sharpen bullets or tailor it to a job description if you want to.

Questions about examples

Are these real people's resumes?

No. Every name, employer, institution and contact detail is invented for illustration, and the figures are realistic but made up. Use the examples for structure and phrasing ideas, then write about your own work.

Can I use an example on the Free plan?

Yes. Opening an example creates a resume in your account, so it counts towards the Free plan's 2-resume limit. Examples shown in a Pro template open in the Classic template on the Free plan.

Will an example get past every applicant tracking system?

No tool can promise that. The examples use single-column templates with real, selectable text and standard section headings, which give screening software the best chance of reading them correctly.

Should I copy the bullet points word for word?

Borrow the pattern (an action, what you did and a measurable result), not the words. Recruiters notice generic phrasing, and every claim on your resume should be something you can back up.
